Gerry got the impellers changed, the batteries all topped off, and moved everything back into the bilge so that we could see the forward stateroom again.
Linda made flight reservations for our trip back to Maryland during Christmas while Gerry updated the logbook to catch up from when we first got to Mobile. Between boat stuff in Mobile and our little jaunt to New Orleans, we spent quite a bit of money. The boat is in great shape again though, and the cost was considerably less than we would have spent in Annapolis.
After doing all our chores we decided it was time for a little fun, so Gerry grabbed his fishing poll again and tried his luck. This time he caught a couple of fish. Towards evening we hopped in the dinghy for a quick trip around the anchorage. Back at the boat we had dinner, watched a little TV, did some blog stuff and then off to bed. It had been a productive day.
But then - - - The US Air Force decided to play a little. The C-130 gunships, helicopters, and lots of explosions broke the silence of our anchorage. This brought back a lot of memories for Gerry. The sound of the Buuuurrrrpppp of the gunships and the drone of the C-130 turboprops were reminiscent of his days as an AF Combat Control Team member in 68/69 and the time he spend on the gunship ranges at Camp Atterbury in Indiana, and exercises at Hurlburt Field. Thankfully, it finally quieted down and we were able to get to sleep.
Gerry caught a fish .... doesn't he look proud
