Breakfast again was coffee and beignets, then a street car ride to the aquarium. Our friend’s daughter, Jamie, works at the aquarium and was able to get all of us free entrance into the aquarium. She works with the otters and was able to do a session for us where they perform some tricks. They were certainly cute and you could tell she really loves her job. After watching the otters for awhile, we explored the rest of the aquarium. The remainder of the day was spent shopping, eating and riding the street cars to see more of the city. Later that night, we took Jamie out to dinner to visit and to thank her for her hospitality.
The placard by the otter exhibit. There names were Buck and Emma
Here's our friend, Jamie, with Emma
The penguins were very cute. There are many here right now awaiting placement in other zoos/aquariums around the country.
A variety of fish in one of the large tanks
A stingray swiming overhead
A large school of fish
A turtle
Here's some lazy sharks .... just hanging out
A white alligator. They are quite rare. Once alligators are grown they have very few predators. However, that is not the case when they are small. Because white alligators cannot camouflage themselves as well as the darker ones, most are eaten when young.
Some jellyfish. There are many jellyfish in the Chesapeake .... but we like them better looking through the glass at them in an aquarium.
Gerry with a "Cheeseburger in Paradise" on his head. What a funny guy he was in New Orleans.
An interesting sign we saw on Frenchman Street. However, we did notice several places that included laundromats. Might not be so bad doing laundry if you could eat and drink at the same time.
