January 23, Day 212 – In Fort Myers

After a quick breakfast, we did a few chores. Gerry went for what was supposed to be a quick bike ride to find the local CVS pharmacy, but on the way back got lost. Seems the streets around here are a little confusing. Oh well, he got a little exercise.

Our friends, Gene and Diane from Fort Lauderdale, arrived around noon. It was great to see them. We went to Joe’s Crab Shack for lunch. Once again, very good food. After lunch we went next door to Centennial Park where they were holding the Caloosahatchee Celtic Festival. They had lots of Celtic vendors, food and many different performers. The group we saw was Albannach and it was billed as “Thunderous Scottish Rhythms”. They were definitely energetic. We got tired just watching them.

After wandering around the festival for a couple of hours we went back to the boat where we visited for awhile. Gene goes to the Bahamas quite often (he’s a pilot) so he gave us a lot of recommendations about where to go. We definitely valued his suggestions.

A little later, we joined Michael and Jana on Second Star and watched the sun as it set; perfect weather, perfect sunset.

Our friends, Gene and Diane. We really enjoyed their visit -- thanks for coming

There were several British vintage cars on display. Here Gerry and Gene are looking at one .... just like kids in a candy shop.

A 62 Triumph -- neat headlights

This was the band we saw performing ... some wild and crazy guys

Nice legs ... just before I snapped the picture these guys were comparing shoes and socks

... and this little guy was just plain tuckered out
