January 10, Day 199 – In Clearwater

We woke up to very cold temperatures this morning – even inside. Last night when we returned to the boat, Gerry had noticed there was a very weak water flow coming from the pump. The heater was running, but not too efficiently. It was too cold and dark to do anything about it last night, but one of the chores for today was to check that out. He figured the filter might be clogged.

After working a little more on the chair installation on the flybridge, he tackled the heater problem. Just as he suspected, the filter was clogged with large globs of seaweed. It took quite awhile to get it all out, but after starting and stopping the system several times he finally got it cleared.

While Gerry was working on his chores, Linda defrosted the fridge and then worked on a grocery list. We need to provision today as we drop off the rental car first thing in the morning. Gerry has a package coming sometime tomorrow, so hopefully we can be underway first thing on Tuesday morning. While the weather will still be on the chilly side, the wind is supposed to subside and the temps are forecast to be in the high 50’s/low 60’s. We will have been in Clearwater a month and it is definitely time to move on.

After watching the first half of the NFL playoff game between the Ravens and New England (Ravens WON !!!), we went out and about to various stores for food, wine, and other necessities. We bought enough to keep us going for at least a week, probably two. We hope to anchor out in several places as we make our way south so we will probably be cooking a lot on the boat for the next couple of weeks.

We had a quick and easy meal on board, watched a little more football and then off to bed.

No pictures again today .... maybe tomorrow, if the weather is decent, we'll document our last day in Clearwater.
