January 2, Day 191 – In Clearwater

We woke up this morning to sun, but it was windy and the temperature was downright cold. We had to bundle up for the short walk to the marina café so we could have one of their delicious breakfasts. We also had to catapult ourselves off the boat as the tide was very low.

After breakfast we did a few chores, but soon decided we needed some exercise so we bundled up again and went for a walk. The whole time we were in Maryland the weather was such that we couldn’t get outside much so we (especially Linda) looked forward to a long walk. We walked back down to Island Way and to the shopping center that is there. We’ll probably ride the Jolley Trolley later on and do some reprovisioning at the Publix before we leave Clearwater. Eventually, we ended up at Frenchy’s where we had a sandwich and a drink and then walked to the beach. It turned out to be quite a pleasant day. Very sunny and in the high 60’s plus the wind died down. We can live with this!!

Back at the boat, we had a cocktail sitting on the back deck and watched as the fishing boats came back with their catch. They all seemed to have had a very good day. Our grandson happens to be in Stuart, Florida right now. Hope he was able to get out on a fishing charter today. He loves fishing!!!!

We spent a quite night on the boat reading and watching a little TV … then off to bed.

Took a shot as we started our walk. This is looking back at the Clearwater Municipal Marina ... which is home for now.

This is a picture of the mural I photographed a couple of weeks ago. Now seagrass and birds have been added (see day 189)

A shot of the pavillion at Pier 60

Lots of vendors at the beach today. They all sit behind the colorful umbrellas.

An ongoing volleyball game at the beach

A shot of the blue sky and white sand at the beach

We walked by a sundial. According to the dial it was just before 4:00 p.m. In fact, it was about 4:05 ... but pretty close -- at least as close as my watch usually is.

We've shown this pirate ship before, but here's a picture up close. The passengers were waiting to board as we walked by. As we got back to our boat it was heading out of the marina.

Here's a shot of Monk's Vineyard taken from the opposite dock

.... and look, our friendly pelican is still here, silhouetted in the sunset

Hey guys! It was awesome seeing you (and devouring Linda's goodies....hmmmm, that didn't sound right did it??!! hehe) Sorry we didn't see you more! Don't know if you noticed the hot sauce at Frenchy's but it's awesome! If you go back, buy some, it will accompany those empanadas nicely! ;) LOVE!! Lisa
