We slept in this morning and then had a leisurely breakfast. The storm that was forecast had not yet arrived. After doing a few chores, we went for a walk. We had picked up a brochure that was a guide to the Punta Gorda Harborwalk so we followed that and checked out all the points of interest. We also stopped at one of the restaurants we passed for a late lunch. Back at the boat we joined in with others on the dock for happy hour. Linda multi-tasked and did some laundry at the same time. Later that night Gerry worked with Michael on charts and routes to the Bahamas. By the time we went to bed, the storm still had not arrived. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.
Sunrise at the marina
Fisherman with casting net. If you've followed our blog you may remember that Gerry has a casting net. He tried using it when we were at Crooked Island.
However, these guys definitely knew what they were doing. Each of the 2 men cast their nets once and came up with all of these fish.
Ponce de Leon Statue. There was a sign saying "don't play in the water". So much for partaking in the fountain of youth.
One of the many historic homes in the area
Bayan Tree -- This thing was HUGE
The Banyan Tree and Us
An Indian carving of Calostimucu
This is a short of Gerry's lunch -- it cost only 5 bucks -- should feed him for days. We definitely got a huge doggy bag.
Part of the waterfront -- very clean and well-kept
Nature's Harmony Historic Mural
New shopping complex on the water's edge
Cute little playground
This is an area called Marriage Point. I'm sure many wedding pictures are taken here.
Gerry checking out the artwork called "Spirit of Punta Gorda"
The local courthouse
Another mural painted on a building
Snapped a picture of some of the art in one of the local shops. These critters were all made of beads. Very nice, but very expensive
A picturesque alley leading to a restaurant
The town clock -- look, it's 4:00 and time for happy hour
