Woke up this morning to cloudy skies. Looked like it had rained a little overnight. We had breakfast and headed out just before 10:00. It was a little late for us, but it felt good to sleep in. The first lock this morning was Lovesick Lock. This lock is unique because it is accessible only by boat. It is situated on an island. The lock masters travel back and forth by boat from the Burleigh Falls Lock. It is a very beautiful area and probably the most photographed area of all the locks.
After Lovesick we passed into Lower Buckhorn Lake and then went through Buckhorn Lock. The skies were darkening and just as we finished locking through, it started to rain. It rained hard (along with thunder and lightning) for a couple of hours, but finally let up a little while before Bobcaygeon. We had decided that if there was room to moor, we would stay there. As we approached, the lock gates were closing so we tied up on the blue line waiting to lock through. While we were waiting, Linda walked to the top of the lock to see if there was space. There were several houseboats there (several taking much more space than they needed), so we decided to tie up below the lock. We moved the boat off the blue line and tied up in the regular mooring area.
After getting settled in, we took a walk to explore the town. There is a huge store here named Bigley Shoes and Clothing. Among other things, it has thousands of pairs of shoes. We went in, but Gerry felt it was too much like a mall (at Christmas time) and waited outside for Linda. We explored the rest of town and then went back to the boat. Gerry did research stuff (still trying to persuade Linda to get the electric bikes) and Linda went for a walk.
In the evening we went to dinner at Donatella Ristorante. The food was great. Linda had been out exploring earlier and found the Kawartha Dairy. Guide books say that no cruise can be considered complete without at least one Kawartha Dairy cone so she wanted to walk there for ice cream. We went, but Gerry’s leg really hurt (from his fall the other day), so he didn’t enjoy the walk (now known as the Kawartha Death March), but the ice cream was good. After that it was back to the boat, did some work on the blog and then off to bed.

Leaving Lovesick Lock
Christmas Tree Island (our name for it anyway)
Some of the scenery we saw today ... pictures are not too good because it was cloudy and sort of misty.
More of the small islands
A couple of the millions of rocks in the area
A loon. We saw several today, but everytime I got my camera ready to take a picture they would dive. This is the best I could do.
A boat we saw as we were approaching the Buckhorn Lock. Loved the name. We talked with the couple later (they are from Georgian Bay). He wasn't grouchy at all!!
