August 1, Day 49 - Kingston to Deseronto

Got up this morning and walked into town to the Farmer’s Market. Bought a few fruits, veggies and breads and also stopped and had a quick breakfast. Back at the boat Gerry checked the systems while Linda stowed provisions. We timed our departure from the marina so we could catch the bridge opening at 10:00. It only opens on the hour. The weather was sunny with a refreshing breeze.

Once underway, Linda drove while Gerry worked down below transferring data from the old computer to the new one.

We had a nice run to Deseronto where we anchored at Grassy Point, off of Long Reach on the Quinte Bay. It was nice to have deep water and no locks for a change.

We mixed up a little Sangria when we anchored about 3:15 and relaxed a bit. Took the dinghy out for a ride and found out why they call this Grassy Point – man, it was really thick. The water was about 10 feet deep, but we had to stop a couple of times to clear the grass off of the outboard.

We are having some leftover roast beef tonight and will hit the hay early. We want to get through a few locks tomorrow on our first day on the Trent-Severn.

Bridge closing at Kingston. We had just gone under. We were the only boat.

This is a picture of the Thousand Island tour boat that we went on yesterday

This is a picture of the Penitentiary we posted the other day .... only this one is taken from the water

Sailboats at play .... it was quite breezy

Wind turbine farm. It was very expensive and controversial when installed, but the company that built it thinks it will be profitable in a few years.

Our anchorage at Grassy Point right outside Deseronto
