August 22, Day 70 - Midland to Bear Head Bay

We miss our company already. No one to help with the lines this morning and it will be a lonely trip to Echo Bay. No singing along with the oldies, Steve fiddling with stuff or Karen’s giggling about almost everything. Hope they can join us again soon!!!

It is sunny this morning with a few dark clouds hanging around, but it looks ok to head out. We will be taking the outside route for the next few days because we want to get to Killarney by Tuesday – a storm may be headed this way on Wednesday, so we would like to be back on the inside again by then.

We stopped at Echo Bay (just past Henry’s Fish place), but it was full of boats. We tried anchoring just off the main anchorage area, but we were too close to the rocks and decided that wouldn’t work. We continued on to Bear Head Island and stopped there around 3:00. There was only one other boat in the anchorage. We puttered around a little (including napping), Gerry worked on the route for tomorrow – plan is to be at Point Au Baril by Tuesday evening, had dinner and watched a movie. Then it was off to bed.

We had a long trip in open water today. This was one of the major islands we passed -- Giants Tomb Island

This is the entrance to Echo Bay where we had planned to anchor. However, because of the number of boats already there, we decided to drop the hook elsewhere.
