August 19, Day 67 - Wreck Island to Indian Harbor

Another beautiful day in paradise.

It was a bit rolly in the anchorage last night with a 15 knot breeze, but the temperature was perfect for sleeping.

I think we were all still full of pickerel, but we had those butter tarts to eat with our morning coffee. Also Linda had planned pancakes with fresh blueberries, so we all forced ourselves to eat.

We needed to do a little fridge cleaning today to see what had died in there and do a little chart work to decide what to do next. Found out the smell was chicken …. which was still well within its “use-by date”. Oh well, we’ll have spaghetti tonight instead of grilled chicken.

We all took a dingy ride around the entire island. We were looking for the supposed shipwreck from which the island got its name. We found nothing along that line, but the scenery was beautiful. We decided we would pull up anchor and try someplace else for the rest of the day and night. After checking his charts, the Captain decided on Indian Harbor. It was a short, but very picturesque run to the anchorage.

After we arrived, the dinghy was launched and swimming/snorkeling/sun bathing started. A check on the anchor revealed a fairly muddy bottom and the holding was good. Snorkeling revealed that no fish were present in the anchorage, but Steve persisted with his fishing until he had used all of the lures and checked the fishfinder to confirm the findings stated by those who had been out snorkeling.

We had an excellent spaghetti dinner with salad and corn on the cob. We followed that up with some of the chocolate from Cambellford and then a movie (James Bond) before going to bed.

On the way to Indian Harbor -- Karen taking it easy -- vacation is hard work

Colorful house -- maybe they had a lot of leftover cans of paint

Approaching the entrance to Indian Harbor

Some of the rocks at the entrance. Actually the whole anchorage looked like this. Gorgeous!!

An Inukshuk on the rocks. An Inukshuk is a number of rocks, piled somewhat in the form of a human, that is used as a means of communication. We think this one was telling us ..... this way to a wonderful anchorage.

A turtle that was swimming around the boat.
