August 4, Day 52 - In Campbellford

Sort of a slow day. It was cloudy and very windy all day and Gerry wasn’t feeling too good (a little tummy ache). It was a good day to not be on the water. We did manage to go for a walk to the Canadian Tire Store (sort of like home depot, but with lots more automotive stuff) to buy some needle valves to fill the fenders with more air.

Then we walked around town to find a Laundromat and the post office. We stopped at a local restaurant and had a bit of lunch. Linda came back later and did a few loads of wash while Gerry napped (what a life!).

After Linda returned, we went for a walk to the Chocolate Factory outlet. Big Mistake!! They were having an anniversary sale of some sort and you were allowed to take a plastic bag and stuff it with chocolate stuff – whatever you were able to get in the bag was only $19.99. We hauled about 17 pounds of chocolate back to the boat and stuffed it into the fridge so it wouldn’t melt (after taking out many fruits and vegetables that we will be eating a lot of in the next day or two – hey chocolate takes priority over everything). We next went to the discount grocery called Bill’s No Frills …. Got 2 big sacks of groceries for around $25.00. We decided Campbellford was a good place for great discounts.

Then Linda made beef stroganoff in the pressure cooker while Gerry watched (he sure has it tough). Dinner was great and we had a few chocolate covered almonds to top it off.
Then Gerry got on line and shopped for camps in Maine while Linda went out for a walk (The scenery we are seeing in this part of the trip reminds us a lot of what we saw on the lakes when we lived in Maine).

Then it was off to bed to get rested up for our trip to Hastings tomorrow. Six more locks to work our way through.

Very few pictures today … only the chocolate factory.

This is the sign on the building for the chocolate store. Everything is produced locally in the factory next door. Some other chocolate companies may not agree with the "World's Finest" claim, but for the price is was very good.

These were the barrels you could choose from for the special anniversary price of "everything in a plastic bag for $19.99". It was obvious some people knew exactly how to stuff the bag ... I heard them counting up to twenty. We only got 17 of the individual 1 lb bags in our big bag, but still a good deal.
