August 13, Day 61 - In Orillia

Got up this morning, had a great breakfast of real bacon (Linda usually cooks turkey bacon) and eggs with coffee. Today was going to be a “work day”. Hey, I thought we were retired!!

Gerry worked the holy place (engine room) and Linda started cleaning the flybridge area. After several hours the engine room stuff was done and the boat was washed down and scrubbed. Tomorrow we will start waxing the topsides and finding a new place to put everything that is currently in the forward cabin so Steve and Karen have a place to sleep. The new bike is supposed to arrive tomorrow as well, so maybe we can go exploring Orillia when we finish housekeeping chores.

To reward ourselves for our hard work, we took down the dingy and did a little exploring in the area around Orillia. It is a very pretty area and the weather was perfect. Later, we walked into town and because of the recommendations of 3 different people tried Brewery Bay for dinner. It was pretty good, especially the appetizer. After that it was back to the boat and off to bed with visions of “more work” tomorrow.

.... and more of the grounds. There were lots of colorful flowerbeds scattered throughout the entire park

Statue to Samuel Champlain who explored the area in 1615

Old railroad cars have been turned into a restaurant. It is right behind the marina. Pretty cool looking, but don't think we'll be eating there. It's a little pricey.
