August 3, Day 51 - Frankford to Campbellford

Woke up to a beautiful day – as Linda just mentioned “it just doesn’t get any better than this”. It really was a great day to be on the water.

We left Frankford about 9:30 and arrived here at Campbellford at 3:30. We went through another 6 locks on the way.

We met up again with the loopers we mentioned yesterday. They are from Montreal (Carole and Michel). Very nice folks that we hope to see again on down the road (water).

We have internet here at the community park, so we will get the blog updated and our banking done (in that order).

Our plan for the rest of the day is to go to a hardware store and get one of those thingy’s that you blow up basketballs with, or in our case, fenders. Ours are in need of a bit more air after going through 82 locks (hope this agrees with Bill’s count).

We went for a walk and ended up having dinner at the “Blu Note Café”. It rated an 8 on our rating scale for Linda’s Salmon and my chicken parmesan. Then Linda made Gerry walk some more and we checked out a few other places that we needed to go in the morning (the Canadian Tire Company – a sort of Home Depot place - and the LCBO (Liquor Control Board Ontario) to pick up some more wine. (didn't get around to doing any of those things today)

We ended the evening using the internet to link with Derrick’s Slingbox and watched a little TV and Linda updated the blog (with considerable effort). I called my sister (Judy) and chatted about when they might join us on the Loop. STAY FLEXIBLE!! Anything might happen.
We are really looking forward to picking up our first Loop guests (Karen and Steve Hanson from Utah) on the 15th of August. They will be joining us from the 15th to the 21st. We hope to show them a little bit of the Loop experience.

We plan to stay here again tomorrow night and catch up on the blog, banking and relaxing.

.... and still more kids at play. This boat was pulling 3 different groups. Today was a Canadian holiday so there was lots of activity along the way.

Flowers at Lock 11 and 12. This lock(s) actually had lots of flower beds, all well manicured.

Leaving Lock 12

As we approached the town of Campbellford, we spotted a group of older gentlemen dressed in white. They were lawn bowling.

The Twoonie. And what is a Twoonie, you ask. Well, it's the Canadian two dollar coin. A local artist, Brent Townsend, designed the coin and this is a statue recognizing his work.
