Gerry finished up with the battery maintenance and moved all of the “stuff” back into the bilge, so that Linda could start clearing out the forward berth area.
The marina staff dropped by to let us know that we had a delivery waiting for us, so Gerry took the folding cart up and brought the new bike back to the boat. It was a little tricky putting it together on a floating dock without dropping parts into the water, but he finally got it together and started charging the battery. The process took quite a bit longer than expected because folks kept dropping by to ask about the bike, the boat, the trip, etc.
Linda cleaned the inside of the boat, got a haircut and went to do laundry and Gerry waxed one side of the boat.
We were just wrapping up for the day, when one of our boat neighbors (Paul) dropped by and asked Gerry to drive his boat over to the Narrows (about 3 miles away) to get a pump out. It seems as though his holding tank had sprung a leak and he had “stuff” all over the place. He had been drinking and was concerned that if he was stopped, he would be in real trouble. The boat was a 38 foot Cruisers with twin gas engines. We were a bit surprised that he was asking Gerry to drive it over – didn’t know us except for dock talk and Gerry has never driven a twin engine boat before and a go fast boat at that. Gerry was willing to do anything to get out of more boat cleaning, so away they went.
They didn`t return until a couple of hours later. It seems the "pump out" became quite the adventure. It turned out that the holding tank was way full and the day was pretty warm and the combination had started quite a pressure build up. When Paul opened the waste fill, a real sh** storm erupted and covered him in stuff. He finally got the fill cover back on and Gerry pulled the hose over so he could hose down himself, the boat, the dock, etc. Wow, what a stink!!!! It took quite a while to get the situation under control and finally get the pump out accomplished. There were several boats at the dock, but the spectator crowd kept their distance. It was a good thing that Paul (and his wife Darlene) had a pretty good sense of humor. Darlene started coming up with Sh** sayings. A new meaning to the term Sh**-faced. What a Sh*ty day. And so on. They finally made it back and Paul headed to the showers.
We went out to dinner at the "train" - The Ossawippi Express across the street and had a great meal with entertainment on the patio. (Seems the patio area has a different menu and is quite a bit cheaper than inside the dining cars.) It was a wonderful night.
We got back to the boat and Paul and Darlene stopped by and we discussed the day's events and they gave us more suggestions for Georgian Bay. Like everyone else, they told us that it was the best place in the world to be on the water. We will find out soon. It also turned out that they had visited with Ralph and Anne (Harmonie II) while they were here. It is becoming a small world.
We didn't get to bed until after midnight, but it had been an interesting day.
