March 19, Day 267 – In Fort Lauderdale

Today was another of those not-so-fun-days. Although we don’t have lawns to mow, gardens to tend, or big houses to clean, we do have maintenance and repair work that needs to be done and just the everyday kinds of things a person needs to do whether on a boat or in a house.

Linda did laundry first thing this morning while Gerry got some last minute things he needed to install the new hot water heater while taking the rental car back to Enterprise. Then he spent the rest of the day working on the boat. He changed the anchor swivel to a larger size, installed some lure hanging thingys he bought yesterday, installed a power thrust on the dinghy motor and then installed the new hot water heater. Linda cleaned up the mess he made.

By the time all of this was done, it was well past 5:00. We waited awhile to see if the new water heater worked ….. and ….. yippee, it did, and then took nice hot showers. We, and the gang on Second Star, went out to dinner at the Oasis. It’s a nice place on the beach where you sit at tables that glide back and forth – great fun and very relaxing while you sip a drink and watch the world go by. After dinner we walked along the beach front, stopping to listen to the music at the various restaurants as we went by. It was a fun night and it was great to relax after a day of working on the boats.

This was the restaurant where we ate -- Oasis Cafe

View from the restaurant -- the beach was settling down. Only a few people out and about as the sun was almost ready to set.

At dinner -- gliding in the swings
