March 15, Day 263 – In Fort Lauderdale

We woke up to another nice day and decided to go for an early morning walk on the beach. Of course, breakfast was also on the agenda. We sat at the sidewalk tables of a local restaurant and watched the early morning joggers and beachwalkers. Very nice and not as crowded as later in the day.

Back at the boat Linda and Jana set up hair appointments for early afternoon. Getting one’s hair cut is somewhat of a crap shoot when you’re traveling around on a boat. You take what you get, knowing that your hair will grow back. We went to a salon at the local Galleria Mall and were okay with the results. Good for another couple of months. The guys visited West Marine and Sailorman during the haircut period. They returned to the mall where we all had a quick lunch and then back to the boat. The rest of the afternoon was spent doing a few chores. Gerry bought Linda a present – a random orbital buffer. Now she can easily clean, polish and wax the boat. What a guy!!!

At 5:30 we, along with Michael and Jana, dinghied over to Aloha Friday for drinks and dinner. We had a very pleasant evening sharing stories with Ted and Nancy. Then it was back to the boat and off to bed.

The beach was pretty empty this morning, shortly after sunrise
