March 10, Day 258 - Still in Key Biscayne

Just a quick note -- in case anyone is following us. We didn't make the crossing today. Our buddy boat, Second Star, had a mechanical problem. We went ahead to check out the seas. Found that the forecast 2-4 ft seas were more like 4-6 ft. Decided we weren't comfortable with that and came back in. We also calibrated the autopilot on the way back in -- just in case anyone wonders why we were going in circles.

Once back in the anchorage with the hook down, we pretty much just relaxed for the day. Linda read and Gerry plotted courses up the east coast. Later in the day we picked up Michael and Jana in our dinghy and went exploring the ritzy neighborhoods around Hurricane Hole. Forgot my camera, so couldn't get any pictures of the homes. There were a couple of noteworthy ones, not necessarily for the size, but for the color -- bright orange. We had happy hour aboard Second Star, enjoying the sunset. The weather is nice and warm with a slight breeze. We are actually happy to be here. The Bahamas may happen .... or not ... we'll have to see.
