October 9, Day 118 - In Grand Rivers, KY

We had a much better night ….. except for the rain, lighting, thunder and tornado watch we had a quiet night. We had a leisurely breakfast and then cleaned up so we could check out of the condo. As luck would have it, it started to rain as we prepared to leave on our bikes (freshly laundered clothes got a little wet on the way back to the boat).

We spent the rainy day inside the boat tidying up a bit, working on the computer and taking naps. We were supposed to get mail delivered to the post office, but it still hadn’t arrived so we contacted our mail service. Oops …. They forgot to send it. They said they would get it right out (overnight FedEx) and it would be at the marina by Saturday morning.

At 5:00 we went over to Emotion 3 for happy hour and then we all went to the Commonwealth Yacht Club for dinner. We had a really good time and meal. Michel and Carole are having a hard time understanding the southern drawl (heck so are we), but we had the most patient waitress that talked to them slowly and tried to explain everything until they understood. Of course, no one could make us understand the liquor laws. We thought you could buy drinks at the yacht club, but that ended up not being the case, so Gerry ran back to the boat for a bottle of wine as they would serve you your own. As we were finishing dinner, Pat and Dianne from Sharpie’s Dream came in. They had just arrived. We last saw them in Peoria at the marina. They are on a sailboat and most of their days are very long. They had just made it from the Cumberland Toehead anchorage and were glad to be on land and out of the rain.

After dessert (which we shared) it was back to the boat and then to bed. It is still rainy, but the weatherman is promising better weather tomorrow. We’ll see.

Here we are .... at the Yacht Club. We had the best seat in the house.

Cheers !!!
