October 11, Day 120 - Grand Rivers, KY to Paris Landing State Park

It was very chilly last night and so we slept with the heat on …. Didn’t want to freeze our guests on their first day. We had breakfast at the marina restaurant and then got the boat ready for departure. We finally headed out around 10:00.
We plan on making several short runs on our way down the Tennessee River. Our plan today was to go to Paris Landing State Park, approximately 40 miles away. The trip was pleasant, with no barge traffic to speak of, except for one tow pushing part of a restaurant. They were taking it down to Chattanooga to fix up as a restaurant on the river. There were more pleasure boaters out than we have seen in several days. We chatted with many along the way. The weather was cool, but sunny and with the flybridge enclosed it was a pleasant ride. The leaves are starting to turn, but still not much color. We arrived at our destination a little after 3:00. The marina was practically empty so they told us to pull into any of the 70 foot slips ….. my, we nearly got lost with all that room.

Carole and Michel on Emotion 3 had arrived earlier in the day and so we hosted them for happy hour on our boat so they could get to know our friends Jay and Nanci.

Gerry and Jay grilled steaks while the women fixed potatoes and salad. We had a nice dinner, chatted a bit and then off to bed. This is good sleeping weather.

Monk's Vineyard on the dock at Green Turtle Bay ... we had sun!

The only barge we saw today was part of a restaurant being taken to Chattanooga

Interesting rock formations along the river's edge

A bit of color on some of the trees

Happy hour on the boat
