We got up early and rode back over to the marina, had some breakfast at the Dockers Diner and then went to the boat to do some chores. It rained hard off and on all morning. When it finally let up a little we took the laundry back to the condo. I could use the washer and dryer in the condo at no charge instead of using the pay machines in the marina.
Later in the afternoon Michel and Carole picked us up in the courtesy van and we headed to Paducah for some shopping and dinner. The marina has four courtesy vans: a couple in pretty good shape, one in okay shape and one in terrible shape. Well, of course, we got the one in terrible shape. It made awful noises and if you started or stopped quickly, water would pour out of the outside air vents all over the front floor of the car, thus soaking Michel’s feet. In addition the windshield wipers screeched as they went back and forth …. Like nails on a chalkboard. It was rusted out everywhere and some of the doors would not open. It had well over 200,000 miles on it, but it got us there and back and provided us with entertainment as we laughed constantly at the noises it made. People at Wal-Mart were probably very envious of us as we tried to get our doors open and climbed out of our rusted out chariot over each other.
We had dinner at Pizza Hut, as that was about the best that part of Paducah had to offer. However, it was good and we have lots of leftovers. Back at the marina we unloaded all of our provisions (mostly wine) and then Michel dropped us off back at the condo. We watched a little TV, checked e-mail, did some banking and then off to bed. Hopefully we will sleep better tonight as we stocked up on several kinds of cold medicine at Wal-Mart.
