October 7, Day 116 - In Grand Rivers

We woke up early this morning to say goodbye to Zoltan and Christine. They were heading out as they want to be in the Mobile Bay area by the end of the month.

We checked on our condo (which was reserved for Wednesday and Thursday nights) and they let us register then and gave us the keys. We had reserved a courtesy car to go into town so we stopped at the condo on the way. It is right on the lake and has a huge deck overlooking the water. It has a full kitchen, nice living area and bedroom and bath. It seemed huge. We went to town with Michel and Carole and did a bit of provisioning and checked on our mail. The AIS system had arrived, but not our regular mail.

The rest of the day was spent installing the AIS system and doing other chores on the boat. The AIS system seems to work fine so Gerry is happy with that. Around 6:00 we finally decided to call it a day and jumped on our bikes and headed to the condo.

The condo is very nice with lots of room, especially considering we have been living in a 36 x 14 space for almost 4 months. Gerry grilled hamburgers on the back deck, but it was a bit too chilly to eat on the deck so we ate inside. We even watched TV. This place has all the comforts of home including a washer/dryer, dishwasher and trash compactor.

We were both tired, plus Gerry had caught Linda’s cold so we were ready for bed early. Tomorrow we plan to use the courtesy car to go to Paducah to stock up on adult beverages. We will be in “dry” states for quite awhile and Paducah is one of the counties in Kentucky that is “wet”. Kentucky has dry counties, wet counties and moist counties. Dry counties do not allow the sale of alcoholic beverages, wet counties do and moist counties are dry counties, but some of the cities within the county are wet. How is that for confusing?

This weekend in the Hunter's Moon Festival in Grand Rivers. It appears to be quite the event. The marina is fully booked for the weekend (there are many, many loopers here).

Another shot of the living area w/fireplace. In addition to the 2-night stay, a dinner at the Yacht Club and a play at the local theatre was included in the prize package we won.
