October 12, Day 121 - Paris Landing State Park to Johnsonville, TN

It was cloudy again, but not raining, and much warmer this morning.

Gerry was the first one up and Jay followed shortly after. We had mini bagels with cream cheese, cantaloupe, and bananas for breakfast and then we went for a walk over to the conference center and hotel on the other side of the highway.

After returning, we got the boat ready for departure and headed up the river to Pebble Isle Marina in Johnsonville, TN. The trip was uneventful, with no wind and lots of clouds in front of us. Looking back, the skies would clear as we passed with bright sunshine in back of us, but the clouds stayed with us the rest of the day.

We pulled into the harbor in Jeffersonville around 2:00. The harbor is well protected, the staff very friendly. With our Boat US discount, we paid $2.45 for diesel and filled up. The slip was also discounted and very reasonable. We were met on the dock by Roy from Roy El and Michel and Carole, so pulling into the slip was a piece of cake.

After getting tied up, we chatted with a few of the other loopers at the docks and then went for a walk to the Johnsonville historic site. We didn’t get too far as most of it was uphill so we gave up and headed back to the boat. Linda made her famous roll ups for happy hour and away we went to join the other loopers on the dock. Roy and Elvie provided us all with information on anchorages in the Tenn-Tom and also information about Florida.

After happy hour, Linda fixed Sloppy Joe’s in the pressure cooker and we all had a fine meal. After a nightcap, it was off to bed as everyone was tired. Once it’s dark, it seems like it’s bedtime.

We went for a walk and found a very interesting and confusing sign ... didn't really point to anywhere

This was the entrance to the Paris Landing State Park Complex

The bridge to nowhere. It was an old railroad bridge that had been abandoned and partially dismantled.

The Johnsonville State Historic Area .... we stopped shortly after the sign because the road was all uphill.
