July 8, Day 25 - In Shelburne

Once again, Linda woke up much earlier than Gerry and went for a walk. Still must have that internal alarm set for 5:30 a.m. Will have to work on that.

Linda worked on the blog and Gerry sent in comments to the Active Captain (a web site that has information on marinas, anchorages, etc.). Linda then tried to organize things again (a lost cause I think), and Gerry scrubbed down the boat.

Mark came around 2:30 and drove us around Burlington looking for cell phone boosters (being without connections for 3 days was an issue for Gerry). No luck though. Will see about getting one on-line and having it sent to Rouses Point (our next planned marina stop). We did find the West Marine though – it was pretty well hidden and it became obvious why we walked by it yesterday without finding it. There was no indication on the large sign at the entrance to the strip mall and the store was actually on the back side.

Next we went to dinner at the Vermont Pub & Brewery in downtown Burlington – good stuff. Then we went to the Hannaford grocery store in Shelburne and stocked up on food and soda. We should be good now until Montreal.

Oh … we had some sun today and didn’t get the usual mid-afternoon thunderstorm. Maybe the weather is changing …… sure hope so. We plan on leaving the marina tomorrow, but our mail has not arrived yet. We had it sent from our forwarding service in Florida, but this was our first time and we’re not sure we allowed enough time. Guess there is a bit of a learning curve to figure out how much time to allow.

Gerry and Mark .... friends from Sweetgrass County High School in Big Timber, Montana. Can you tell which one is retired and cruising around on a boat and which was is working and driving around all over New England in a car?

The brew pub where we ate. Great atmosphere and lots of fun.

This is kind of a neat building with an old slate roof, but I took the picture to show the BLUE SKY !!
