July 18, Day 35 - In St. Anne de Bellevue

We stayed in St. Anne de Bellevue today It was raining very hard when we got up, but it stopped about 9:00 and we went over to say our goodbyes to Ralph and Anne as they were headed for Montebello this afternoon. We then had a great breakfast at Dundees, and did some shopping at the Saturday Farmer’s Market – right next to the docks. We went to the local WaWa (Owl’s) and picked up some milk, soda, and beer.
Had a good chat with a couple from Boston who moved up here 30 years ago. They had been to many Annapolis boat shows and sailed on the Chesapeake. Very friendly and interesting people up here. We had been warned about the snobby French attitude, but we have found that nearly everyone speaks English just as well as they speak French.
Yesterday was the start of the 2 week long “Construction Worker’s” Holiday. There will be no building or contract type work for the next two weeks and those folks are likely to be on the water someplace. The rainy weather may keep the crowds down but we will see.

While out for a stroll, we discovered a laundromat so Linda took care of that chore while Gerry did a few things on the boat. After that we just relaxed and did some people watching. This is a very busy town, especially on weekends and this particular weekend a boating club from Ottawa was having a “poker run”. There were boats rafted up 4 deep at times. They would stay for a while and then be off to their next destination.

We had dinner at the Violet Angel …. Very good Italian food. The weather was very nice today with only the early morning rain. We hope it stays that way. We did a little work on the blog and then it was off to bed.
