September 17, Day 96 - St. Joseph, MI to Michigan City, IN

We woke up early this morning. No particular reason as we didn’t have to leave early. However, since we were awake, Linda decided to do more laundry. The machines here are the latest state-of-the-art washers/dryers and they are free!!!! She decided to do the bedding (comforter, etc) as the machines were big. Gerry did a backup of the computer and puttered around a bit. We finally headed out at 9:00 and had a great run to Michigan City. The wind was behind us so we were surfing on the waves – gave us an extra ½ knot.

After getting settled in, we went to the Harbor Grill restaurant – used to be the Michigan City Yacht Club. The food was good and not expensive. While we were there, we got a call from Michele & Carole – they had arrived in Chicago and were checking on us. There are 10 other loopers there, some with plans to stay the weekend and head for the rivers on Monday. So, we will be see if we know anyone else when we get there tomorrow. Next we hit the local liquor store and then went over to the Lighthouse Outlet Mall. We picked up some new Crocs (buy 1 get 1 free) and some munchies from the Le Gourment store and headed back to the boat. We had cocktails with Ted and Nancy from Aloha Friday and then did a few chores. After that we turned in early as we had been up well before dawn. Tomorrow it is on to Chicago. We should be there around noon.

Northern Indiana Public Service Coal Fired Plant --- you can see it forever. It was visible as soon as we left St. Joseph. It it right at the inlet to Michigan City and therefore right by the marina. You could hear it "purring" all night. Kind of sounded like the generator on the boat was running all night.

The Old Lighthouse Museum

A fountain by the waterfront

Strange art by the police station. Don't know what it depicted. They must not have known either, as there was no signnage explaining what it was.

Again .... in my quest for "justice" and for my former co-workers ..... here's the courthouse.

At the marina

More of the marina. It was very nice

Monk's Vineyard at the dock

Sunset ..... and off to bed!
