September 13, Day 92 - Ludington to Muskegon

We helped Michel and Carole depart for Sheboygan, Wisconsin and then we got ready to leave for Muskegon.

After a breakfast of muffins and coffee, we headed south again. Another sunny and windless day. The mornings start out quite cool and Linda usually has on long pants and a jacket, but as the day progresses, the coat comes off and shorts and t-shirts become the attire of the day. We encountered a lot of sailboats between Whitehall Lake and Muskegon, but most had their sails down. The wind did pick up a bit just as we entered Muskegon Lake.

We anchored in a fairly empty anchorage, but Muskegon Lake was very busy because of the nice weekend weather.

Gerry grilled the fish he caught yesterday. Even he thought it was good and he’s not particularly fond of salmon. After dinner we did a few chores and Gerry made a few phone calls to family and friends to catch up on the latest news. Since we are at anchor and chose not to take the dinghy off, we will probably go to bed early. We have another long cruising day tomorrow. Weather is still sunny and the winds light.

The "spots" you see on the sanddunes are 4-wheel drive vehicles. We used to go 4-wheeling all the time when we lived in Utah. You would start at the bottom of the dune and go as fast as you could and hopefully reach the top. If you didn't, you were greeted by excessive "boos" from all of those already at the top. We gave the 4-wheeling life up went we fell in love with sailing and bought our first sail boat.

Little Sable Light on the way to Muskegon

There was no wind for most of the day, but since it was the weekend there were several sailboats out searching for any wind they could find.

Here are some sailboats that found a teeny bit of wind

The inlet was pretty busy with boat traffic
