September 4, Day 83 - Gore Bay to Vidal Bay

We started today by going to the Farmer’s Market and the fish market. We scored a few potatoes, tomatoes, scallions, whitefish, and trout. We had to go back to town to get a copy of Gerry’s Captain’s License stuff to send back to the Coast Guard, so we hit the post office and had lunch at the Twin Bluff’s cafe. Back to the boat and over to get a pump out and top off our tanks before heading out to Vidal Bay.

Gerry was in a pretty good mood today (no idea why) and he soon drug out the bongos to play along with the radio. Didn’t take long for Linda to get a headache from that, so the bongos went back to their designated location and Gerry was content with singing along with the oldies (didn’t help Linda’s headache much, but was an improvement over the bongos.)

As we approached Vidal Bay, Gerry noticed another boat in the anchorage and thought it looked familiar. Turns out that it was Emotion III. We had met them in Hastings and locked through a good part of the Trent-Severn with them. We tied up with them to share our stories since we had last met and share a glass of wine or two. Michel was the guy who gave us the “secret” recipe for fish and since we had just bought fresh fish - - - - we gave it a try for dinner.
It was really good (but still a secret).

We will leave with them in the morning to go check into US customs in Drummond, Michigan. It will seem good to get back into the states.
