June 9, Day 349 –Hudson Creek to Dividing Creek

We decided on an early start this morning as the weather forecast was calling for a small craft advisory with strong winds and rain starting around noon. We left at 7:00 hoping to arrive in the shelter of the Eastern Bay before the storm hit. The wind was behind us, so Gerry had to drive most of the time because the autohelm does not work well in following seas. We had a couple of big rollers that knocked us around, but the bigger issue was avoiding all the crab pots and fish traps. We did have one casualty – we lost one of our power cord reels overboard. We stow the power cords in a container that sits on the aft deck and when the boat heeled from the large wave, the container slid to the side and the power cord on top flew off.

Our anchorage today was in Dividing Creek which is off the Eastern Wye River. It is a secluded area that seems to have retained much of its old historic charm. There are a few homes, but most are old dating back to colonial days. It is also a wildlife refuge so the development that has occurred along many of the rivers in recent years has not occurred on this part of the Wye.

We arrived around noon and dropped anchor just as it started to rain. We had perfect timing. The afternoon was spent napping and doing a few chores. In the evening we joined Michel and Carole on Emotion III. They invited as for a BBQ. We had chicken and ribs and a mixture of wonderful fresh veggies. A great meal – they are really spoiling us. After dinner we watched another Bahamas DVD. We are getting lots of pointers on the “can’t miss” places. After that it was back to the boat and to bed.

This was sunrise this morning -- and the reason we left early -- Red Sky in the Morning. There were small craft advisories staring mid-morning. It's not often that we're up for sunrise, but sometimes they are as beautiful as the sunsets.

A very yummy dinner -- bbq'ed ribs and chicken courtesy of Michel and Carole prepared wonderful veggies and potatoes. A very delightful dinner followed by another Bahama DVD. Merci beaucoup!
