November 30, Day 170 – Crooked Island to Port St. Joe

This morning we left our Crooked Island anchorage at 8:30 heading for Port St. Joe. We headed back out into the Gulf for our short run. We were rocking and rolling the first part of the trip with 2-3 foot short and steep seas, but it soon settled down and the ride was comfortable. We all went slowly so the guys could fish, but in spite of some promising bites, no one caught any fish. We arrived at Port St. Joe Marina a little after noon. The harbor hosts, Ray and Patsy, were on the dock to greet us and help us with our lines. Ya just gotta love these harbor hosts.

The marina has a nice ships store and a little café, so we grabbed a quick lunch. The marina also hosted a happy hour with hors d'oeuvre at 4:00 for all the loopers. There are about a dozen looper boats here right now. We knew many of them either from the rendezvous or from meeting them along the way, but there were a few that we met for the first time. It is always great fun to share experiences with the other boaters.

After happy hour we decided to take a short walk into town … didn’t get very far though. Gerry found a sportsman store that specialized in fishing gear. Shortly after making a few purchases there we decided to head back as the forecast was for heavy rain.

Back at the boat, the rain did start around 8:00. We are supposed to have nasty weather for the next couple of days. We plan to stay here through Thursday when the weather is supposed to improve.

We changed time zones today, so we are once again back in the Eastern Time Zone.

Here is Second Star and Emotion III as we were leaving our little island paradise

Dolphins swam with us again today. Since it was sunny, I took a short clip. Click to see them playing.
