Return to Warderick Wells

2/14-2/16 – We stayed at Warderick for 3 nights. We spent part of the time resting and doing boat chores and part of the time exploring parts of the Island we hadn’t seen during our first visit. One morning we took a walk around part of the Island that took us on the Causeway Trail over to the Sound Side, then up to Boo Boo Hill and back down to the Park Headquarters. In the afternoon we dinghied to the Hog Cay area at the southern end of the Island.  Hog Cay is a small cay that runs parallel to Warderick Wells and the cut between the two cays  is a gorgeous, well-protected spot. We went ashore a couple of places and did a little on-land exploring. In the evening we attended happy hour on the beach with the rest of the cruisers in the mooring field.

Our plan is to leave on Thursday for Hawksbill Cay for a couple of days and then on to Shroud Cay. Hopefully, after a day or two we’ll be able to cross to Eleuthera. We won’t have internet until then – so check our “Spot” tracker to see where we’re at.

While eating lunch one day, we heard what we thought was
a strange sounding dinghy motor.  When we looked out
it wasn't a dinghy, but a small sea plane.  It was
interesting to see that they get it as close to shore
as possible and then just wade ashore -- exactly like we do
with our dinghy.

exactly a paved highway
A typical trail in the Exumas - lots of coral.
Good shoes are a must

We stopped at Boo Boo Hill to make sure our
driftwood sign was still there.  It was!!

You can definitely see the changes in water depth from this picture

This is in the Hog Cay area.  What you see are
not waves.  It is current ripping through the
area.  We felt like we were running a river.
This says it all - a way of life
