3/22-3/25 – Boy, what a difference a day makes. We woke this morning to calm conditions with not so much as a ripple on the water. After a leisurely breakfast we raised anchor and were on our way by 10:00. Our destination today was Treasure Cay, a peninsula off Great Abaco Island. If you have been following us on spot, you may have noticed that we keep crisscrossing back and forth across the Sea of Abaco from the mainland (Great Abaco Island) to the small cays that pretty much run parallel with the island. It makes for a great cruising ground (and short cruises).
Treasure Cay is definitely a resort community with many rental condos and cottages. A couple of its big draws are the sportsfishing and the beach. The beach is a 3-mile long crescent with beautiful white sand and a water color that makes you say WOW!!
After settling in we dingied ashore, ate lunch at the Coco Beach Bar and walked the beach for awhile. The next day found us on the beach again and in the evening we went to an outdoor drive-in movie (golf carts and lawn chairs only). We saw the Green Hornet. It was a great venue under the stars. On Thursday, the wind picked up some and we decided it was too breezy to kayak (our planned activity). However, in the evening we went ashore for pizza night at the Tipsy Seagull.
As I post this update, not sure of our plans for today … maybe stay here another day or maybe head out Whale Cay Passage north to Green Turtle Cay. Such is the life of a cruiser.

Today was a beautiful, calm day and all the boats seemed to be
trading places with each other as they headed across the Sea of Abaco.
Some were headed out the Whale passage to points north. |
