Exploring Spanish Wells

3/1 - Linda was up early this morning and took a long walk on the beach and then walked around the west part of the island (the part we didn’t expore yesterday). Later in the morning, Gerry ventured out too and we explored more of both the town and beach. Weather conditions for the next several days suggest that we may be here awhile.

The beach just before sunrise
The sand is considered "sugar" sand
with just a hint of pink

Sunrise at the beach

The Methodist Church in the community is quite impressive ....
... as well as the grounds
The island is full of bananas ...
... and coconuts

Another shot of the serene beach with a lone figure
walking along the shore

A look across the harbor at Russell Island
The Bahamas version of "fast food"

A very beautiful tree in front of the shell shop

Here comes the ferry
Some of the landscaping in the
"Best Kept Yard of 2010"
(We know because there was a
sign in front that said so)
This is the bridge that connects Russell Island
with St. George's Cay (Spanish Wells)
