Super Bowl Sunday at Black Point

We left Little Farmer’s at high tide in order to get straight out to the Banks without going back out and around the Cay the way we’d come in. It was a very short trip and we arrived well before noon. We were planning on going to the Super Bowl party at Lorraines, so we rested up a bit before going into town. Even though we had reservations, the place was packed and there was really no place to sit. They did finally find some chairs for us and squeezed us in at a table, but Gerry doesn’t do well in loud, crowded, hot places – so he scouted out the other two places in town (Deshamons and Scorpios). We ended up at Scorpio which had mostly locals, but also a few cruisers. We sat with a couple from England who really didn’t understand football at all.

On Monday we did laundry at what is perhaps the best laundromat in all of the Exumas. Very clean with 12 washing machines plus dryers. They even have a dock so you can dinghy right up and unload your laundry. While doing laundry, we explored the town some more and then for lunch we stopped at Deshamons for pizza. In the afternoon we dinghied over to Bitter Guana Cay where, on the ocean side, Michael and Frank and Deb (from Fat Chance) went snorkeling and then on the Sound side we explored the shoreline which had many iguanas. Back at the boat, we spent a quiet evening relaxing.  Another great day.

Heading out of the Little Farmer's Cay anchorage.
Saying goodbye to Sisu and Whisper.  We'd met
these cruisers last month in Warderick Wells
An interesting castle-like building on the way to

The pavillion on the point
Boat builders along the shore - we later walked by and
looked at them
The best laundromat in the Exumas.  Even a dinghy dock
to make carting the laundry easy.

The anchorge -- you can just barely make out Monk's Vineyard
in the middle of the picture

Deshamons - we had very good pizza here on Monday
Lorraines -- as you can see, it's quite small
... but they really packed them in for Superbowl
Michael quickly felt right at home behind the bar
This is Scorpios -- it's where we ended up to watch
the Superbowl

Exploring Bitter Guana Cay.  There is a osprey at
the top of the cliff on the right-hand side.  If you
double click the picture, you should be able to see it
